About This Project

Lansing Car Assembly

MCM was awarded the contract for the decommissioning and demolition of the site(s) in December 2005.Environmental cleaning and asbestos abatement began in January 2006. Demolition began at Plant 1 in March 2006 and is expected to be complete in September 2007. Demolition began at Plant 6 in February 2006 and the demolition will be complete at the end of January 2007, remediation will be ongoing thru spring 2007. Between both plants the total building square footage is over 6.5 million square feet; making this General Motors’ largest decommissioning and demolition project ever. Through December 2006, Plant 1 has worked 70,000 hours and Plant 6 has worked 60,000 hours without an accident.
